Women Techmakers: Encouraging women to dream

Women Techmakers began just three years ago, and since then it has grown into one of the strongest communities and resources for women already involved in technology—and for women who dream of becoming future techmakers.

On the back of International Women’s Day, there are dozens of Women Techmakers events hosted by the Google Developer Groups (GDGs) taking place around Asia Pacific. If previous years are anything to go by, this will be a fantastic opportunity to meet and be inspired by women who are realizing their tech dreams. Here are some of the events taking place before the end of the month:

You can find the full list of more than 100 events here.

We don’t just want to involve women in tech, we also believe in celebrating their achievements and inspiring many more. Our homepage doodles have long been highlighting the work of women in the arts, film, literature, the law and beyond. For International Women’s Day this year, we wanted to look forward to the doodle-worthy women of the future. We invited every woman around the world to share their hopes with us by using the #OneDayIWill hashtag on social media.

Here are just some of the dreams from women in Asia that inspired our doodlers to design special doodles: Build a solar power system to reduce global warming. Get more girls interested in engineering. Write storybooks. Be a passionate performer. Run my own business empire.

We’ve always believed that sharing a dream helps you get closer to realizing your vision. We hope that some of these #OneDayIWill stories will inspire you to share yours, or even join us at one of the Women Techmakers events in your country.
